Maxx Hair - Bringing Hair Fashion out of the Salon

Maxx Hair, 38 Main Street

I met Dominic Commisso at his salon, Maxx Hair, and he impressed me immediately with his enthusiasm and commitment to the serious business of hair. Because he and his brothers Marco and Carlo have had an interest in hair design since they were kids, and because the family has been in the business for 40 years, it seemed natural that they would end up together as partners at Maxx Hair. The salon has been around since 1988 before the brothers took it over, and they have been working separately for some time, but their dream was to become partners and bring their own talents and styles together in a salon in Port Washington. Ida, colorist of note, is also on the staff.

The idea at Maxx Hair is to provide a full-service experience that doesn't end when a client leaves the salon. Their philosphy is to consult with and guide their clients to offer them a hair design that fits their lifestyle and is appropriate and flattering. They take the time to consult with clients, personalize the experience, and establish a lasting relationship. They also believe in rewarding loyal clients to keep them coming back. They want to set the standard for great service and client satisfaction.

The Commisso brothers are hands-on managers, involved in everything from doing consultations, washing hair, carrying out the design, and the marketing and technology of the business. You won't see "canned" photos of sample hair designs on the walls. Their models are sometimes their own friends and family. They want to provide high fashion for real people.

The brothers are also involved in trade shows, exhibitions, and providing educational opportunities. Their plans include an eventual name change for the salon and creating their own product line. They are savvy about promoting themselves and can be found on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Visit the the Commisso Brothers website (coming soon) for more information. Dominic wanted me to mention that they share the space with Carol A. Woods of Carol Esthestics, who is a skin care therapist. She offers facials, peels, microdermabrasion, and more.

As a special offer to my readers, mention that you saw this article in Port Washington Life and receive a complimentary cut and blow dry from Dominic, Carlo, or Marco, and 10% off any product. This offer is good for the month of May 2010. I was happy to find that Maxx Hair answers the phone the same way my company, Keller Williams, answers the phone: "It's a great day..." - that says it all.
