Amsterdam at Harborside Officially Opened

It was standing room only at the ribbon cutting and reception for the Grand Opening of the Amsterdam at Harborside on the afternoon of October 5th, 2010. Local community leaders like Gary Ackerman and Craig Johnson, Executive Director Margaret Minichini, sponsors, development partners, Port Washington Chamber of Commerce members, and others gathered to commemorate this event.

The Amsterdam offers independent living as well as long-term care if ever needed. Care is provided in partnership with the North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System. This will provide peace of mind because the residents will have a plan for long-term care that protects their future, all for a predictable monthly service fee. Some of these fees are refundable if they leave the community, which helps preserve the estates of residents and their families.

The Amsterdam is located adjacent to Hempstead Harbor and the Harbor Links Golf Course at 300 E. Overlook in Port Washington. The location affords easy access to Port Washington and Roslyn, shops, historic sites, restaurants and the Long Island Railroad. The Amsterdam consists of 229 independent living apartment and penthouse homes. The one- and two-bedroom apartments and homes have modern fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, ample storage, and individually controlled heating and air-conditioning.

Some of the ametities and services include gourmet dining, housekeeping, utilities, pool, fitness center, beauty salon, regularly scheduled transportation, and security. There are also educational and social opportunities as well as creative outlets.

As stated on their website: "The Amsterdam at Harborside is setting the new standard for retirement living on Long Island." For more information, call 800-365-0665, or visit the Amsterdam at Harborside website.
